Supporting the SSBA

Dec 18 2015

Clyde Marine Recruitment’s staff and guests attended the Scottish Shipping Benevolent Association’s fund raising dinner on 10th November, held at the Crowne Plaza in Glasgow.

The annual dinner is arguably THE Shipping Dinner in Scotland where SSBA members and their guests are drawn together by the common interest of shipping. However, the events primary focus is to raise much needed funds to help them continue to provide financial support to individuals and families in need.

Over the years the SSBA has supported many people who have, at some point in their lives, been unable to support themselves or their families in times of need, whether through death, illness, redundancy, poverty, or where they are just unable to financially support their own or dependent’s ambitions for training and advancement. Hardship funding and bursaries may be granted to members of the SSBA and their dependants, or indirectly through institutions such as maritime colleges and other related charities.

An SSBA lifetime membership costs £25 and although there is an element of ‘insurance’ in this for your own future, it should also be seen as a charitable donation. Any person who has or is currently working in a shore-based role within any sector of the Scottish maritime community can join the SSBA’s worthwhile cause. Be part of Scotland’s biggest shore-based employment charity – join the SSBA on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. Or email info@scottishshippingcharity.org to request a membership joining pack.
