Our Commitment to Your Career
At Clyde Marine Recruitment we are committed to helping newly qualified Deck and Engine Officers find their first assignments in rank. In 2018 we successfully assisted 15 newly qualified Officers in getting their first Officer jobs across both Deck or Engine departments.
It takes nearly 4 years to gain a Navigating Deck or Engineering Officer of the Watch qualification. Those trainees lucky enough to be taken on by their training company can quickly start to gain sea-time in rank. However, many Deck and Engine Officer trainees are left navigating through the unknown territory of marine recruitment and struggle without having single handed watch-keeping experience beneath their belts.
In 2018 we utilised Junior Officers for Ratings positions when we struggled to find suitable UK resource. Feedback was positive from all vessel Masters commenting on the whole they are very keen but the lack of seamanship experience was apparent. We would encourage Junior Officers to grab opportunities such as this as it shows willingness to gain experience and a good report from a Master or a Chief Engineer can assist greatly in gaining an Officers position.
In 2019 we intend to continue with our quest to find placements for Junior Officers.
